This awareness week is held annually and was formed in 1991 by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA). This was originally formed by individuals and organisations from all over the world who wanted to dedicate their help and support on promoting breastfeeding.
This years focus is breastfeeding and employment. Covid-19 had a major impact on accessibility to the majority of help and support groups so this years focus is to encourage employers to support woman who breastfeed and focus on the impact of paid leave and normalising breastfeeding.
Together we can improve conditions for working women and create happy mums = happy babies
