What is Aids?

Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome.

AIDS is a number of life threatening infections/illness’ that occur as a result of your body been severely damages by HIV.

Although AIDS cannot be transmitted from 1 person to another – HIV can!

What is HIV?

Human Immunodeficiency Virus.

HIV damages cells within your bidy which then weakens your immune system and the ability to fight infections.

World AIDS Day

World AIDS day has been held annually on 1st December since 1988. The aim of the awareness day was to remove the stigma behind HIV/AIDS and to bring an understanding of the challenges the people in this community has to face.

Each year holds a different theme which they focus on. “Let Communities Lead” is 2023’s theme.

This year the awareness day is focused on allowing people within this specified community to have a voice. To allow them to speak out, encourage others to speak up and help people to understand AIDS/HIV with the intention to remove the ignorance and stigma behind HIV/AIDs.

Although there is no cute for AIDS, there are treatments avaliable that allows people to live normal, long and healthy lives.
